1997, Chaos Control
With a slight change in their line-up, Cranes have returned with their forth album, "Population Four." Siblings Alison and Jim Shaw remain the core of the band, but guitarist Matt Cope has left. Jim switched from drums to guitar to take his place, with Manu Ros joining as drummer. "Population Four" was recorded in four weeks, and has a more 'live' feel and a less dense sound than the last Cranes album, 1994's "Loved." Hailing from Portsmouth, England, Alison and Jim started up Cranes in the late 80's. The dark, often eerie instrumentation combined with Alison's child-like voice gives the group a sound like no other. Cranes are currenly on tour supporting "Population Four."
On March 12, Chaos Control conducted a video interview with Jim. Three clips from it can currently be downloaded in Quicktime format.
To download the following video clips you must have Quicktime, which can be downloaded here.
