Where
The Theatre Royal, Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth. A very old theatre and now rarely used - the Cranes did actually play there once (possibly in 1988 - mark has a video!) - the interview was conducted in the actual auditorium.

Chris Roberts, then reviews editor of Melody Maker, simultaneously interviewed the whole band (1991 line up!)
Why
Originally intended as an interview for Melody Maker, but subsequently used on a 1992 U.S. only promo CD (RCA no. RJD62247-2) sent continent-wide exclusively to radio stations. The idea was to capitalise on publicity gained from opening for the Cure on the 'Wish' tour and, as there was little time for radio interviews during that tour, by doing this BMG achieved the next best thing.
The CD opens with four tracks : Tomorrow's Tears, Sixth of May, Casa Blanca and Dreamless. The latter two were previously unreleased in the U.S. at the time.
