Review(s)
i just drove from the ny shows back to portsmouth nh, so im very tired so bare with me. its now monday morning about 8am. Sat nights show started out great until after the intro (cloudless)...well no it started during cloudless, jims guitar was sounding horrible, way to much out of tune, (just sounded like some one dropped it before they went on. his amp went out and back and out again when he played his accoustic a couple of songs later, from there it was kinda silly and you cant do much about things that just happen. so there was a bit of frustration on the bands faces. Ali really held it together to make up for the technical troubles and more than likely had a soar voice in the morning. she goes well above the call of duty and is a pro all the way. shows must go on and this one did. the set list was the same as the Boston show i was at and judging from the review of the PA show it was also the same.( that would change on sun but we will get to that in a minute )there are always going to be difficult shows that bands wish to forget however i feel that fans walked away very satisfeid and were happy to spendthe night under the hypnoticsound that only the cranes are masters of. so if the cranes are reading this, please no worrys i would rather see you on an off night than see anyone else on a good night and i know others feel the same. now to the good stuff.....SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY... this was the show to be at. technicaldifficulty would haunt jim once again when his amp died and his effects dident work right during the second song however Ben was there to save the day and turn the show around into an awesome thing... Jims playing was much more focused and was right on the money, proving that he is master of his sound. the band was playing tight again. timing rythem and voice all there. studio recording do not do this band justice, they have so much more power live. old stuff is just mind blowing. they played a couple of new songs that they didnt in Boston or the other 2 shows before and it rocks. however not only did we get a mind blowing show and the band played better than it had the last 2 shows but they gave us 2 encore sets instead of just the one! Jims call to play Paris and Rome made the crowd go nuts and with a tired voice Ali still showed the world she cannot be matched. words cannot describe or give this band justice, the same can be said about the sunday show. nuff said im going to sleep and get 10 rolls of film footage processed later
