Review(s)
a quick review of the paris gig:
one word : awesome!
cranes at their best
it's amazing to see the difference from one day (brussels) to the other
(paris)
they were alone on stage, the gig being part of a dark wave/gothic party
they played nearly twice as many songs as in Brussels, for about 100 minutes
all in all, the sound quality was good, sometimes average, sometimes
excellent
the first part of the set was almost the same as the brussels set : mainly
songs from the new album but the performance was brilliant - i have to admit
that it even changed my feelings towards future songs - hearing the songs
live in paris made me listen to the cd once more and i enjoyed them a lot
more - the live sound made me discover how beautiful the songs are, even if
they are deprived of the hard edge and the "wall-of-sound" quality that i
liked in previous albums
the second part of the show was pure grace, with essentially old songs - the
band was heavily applaused and came back twice
i don't remember the exact playlist but the highlights were :
lillies, give, reverie, paris & rome, adrift, cloudless, everywhere, here
she comes, jewel and, as a special dedication to Guillaume, organizer of
both party and gig, a sublime rendition of adoration.
Ali was relax, smiling at enthousiastic fans who were jumping and screaming
before her
The band seemed very happy to be there
Ali didn't play bass like in brussels, only guitar
to finish with this very short and incomplete review of this so-perfect
evening, i have to add that the French distributor gave away a promo 2-trk
cd sampler with future song and sunrise on it

Cranes at the Locomotive !
You can not imagine how I expect them to be back again on stage in Paris !
Cranes were obviously brilliant ! Tremendous ! Terrific !
The gig was absolutely fabulous, especially the second part of the concert. Cranes were back for the pleasure of every French fan. After my very controverted experience (refer to the London Cranes concert review at the meanfiddler), I was looking forward to see them live again, just to be sure that what I had seen was an accident! I'm now convinced it was one ! Of course, I still do not love their new album compared to Wings & Forever but it appears rather obvious that they now got used to run " Future songs " on stage. The concert was so good, so deep! Alison & co. were beautiful, smiling at everyone and one could feel the pleasure they had by playing & singing ! I guess there must be a kind of special relationship between Cranes and Paris, because every Cranes concert in Paris is a success…The " Encore " was more than a delight, we were drowned into Joy (Eg shining was excellent !) and Passion.
We all look forward to see them live again in Paris very soon.
